As previously mentioned, the top two pitches provide a large outside space right in front of the clubhouse. If you are looking to seat more than 90 people for a meal, perhaps a marquee could be set up outside but the clubhouse could provide the bar, toilets and kitchen. If the sun is shining, some tables and chairs set up outside could provide an ideal area for a drinks reception on arrival. If there are going to be lots of children (or fun loving adults) then you may want to hire a bouncy castle to keep them occupied throughout the day or some giant games to play on the grass.
The only restriction with using the pitches is that it is subject to timings within the rugby season. The maintenance of the pitches is one of the club’s biggest expenses and so the use of them for events other than rugby must be discussed with the clubhouse manager who will check with the relevant people that it will not interfere with the rugby schedule. In general, however, outside of the rugby season in the summer months it is usually ok to put up temporary structures on the grass.
The club itself does not currently own a marquee (although this is being looked in to). If you were therefore looking to hire one for your event, we have contacts for people who have various sizes of marquee available at a range of prices. Once you have an idea of what kind of size you want and for what purpose, we can contact people we know to see if we can find what you are after at a price that suits you. Once again, if you have your own marquee or contacts for hiring one, you are more than welcome to use them.
